Episode Highlights

[02:20] Our Backstory

  • Whatever you are reading, listening, or watching, it is helpful to know its backstory.
  • Our business was doing well before the Great Recession. Because of this situation, we lost everything.
  • We had our home foreclosed, and we were bankrupt.
  • By 2013, we were homeless. My wife and I lived in our van. Meanwhile, we forced our children to find a place to live in.

[04:53] Why “Seek Go Create”?

  • I am a follower of Christ, and I believed I had a spiritual foundation. I asked Him what we were doing wrong and what we can do differently.
  • Walking around the golf course, I would beg and ask the Lord to give me direction and instruction.
  • Some might not believe this, but the Lord kept giving me these four words in our conversations: seek, go, create, and now.
  • We meditated on it. Followers of Christ know that these words have spiritual significance.
[08:15] “I would be saying things like, ‘Lord, just use me. I want to do what you want me to do. I’m tired of trying to do things on my own power.’” - Click Here to Tweet This

[10:31] What “Seek” Means

  • In Matthew 6:33, Jesus says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you.”
  • I found myself in that dire situation because I was seeking things first, not the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
[15:16] “I believe, even from a non-spiritual standpoint, it's just good to be a seeker — someone who's looking to do new things, someone who's thinking about new things, someone who's pressing in to learn more, and do things maybe differently, and seeking, seeking, and seeking.” - Click Here to Tweet This

[15:45] What “Go” Means

  • I felt that the Lord was telling us we needed to prepare ourselves to go. However, our life was in our home.
  • Mark 16:15 says this: “And He said unto them, ‘Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.’”
  • We have been traveling since 2013, and we go where we can nourish our souls. We travel to places to do business or ministry.

[18:28] What “Create” Means

  • I have never considered myself creative. I tend to do things over and over again.
  • Because God created us in His image, I believe He made us to be creators.
  • I recently finished my first novel, and then I created this podcast.
  • Running families and raising children take creativity.
[19:08] “All this has Biblical roots, Biblical foundations, even though I believe it's part of my business, and I think it has to do with entrepreneurship and everything else. But we were created. I believe we were created.” - Click Here to Tweet This

[21:05] The Final Word

[21:46] “I believe we can push when we're supposed to rest. And sometimes we could rest when we’re supposed to push or go.” - Click Here to Tweet This
  • The last word that we didn't include in the title is now.
  • Initially, the title should have been Seek Go Create Now!
  • I dropped the word now because timing and rest are important too.
[22:29] “Some people are called to stay in one space for a season. And some people, they're supposed to be ready to go to all corners of the earth, to share good news, to do business, to go into the marketplace, to minister to people. We’re supposed to be prepared to go.” - Click Here to Tweet This

[23:05] Branding of the Podcast

  • Seek Go Create was not the original name of this podcast. I also didn't want to include my name in the title.
  • My producer and engineer, who is also my son, suggested going with Seek Go Create.
  • I don’t want to limit the topics of this podcast. This podcast is for leaders, business owners, entrepreneurs, ministers, and anyone else seeking excellence, going for success, or creating something new.
  • Our goal is to share topics, stories, and interviews that will nourish the spirit, soul, and body.
  • We want to create an avenue for people who want to stretch and grow.
