Tim Winders:

It's not just about you.

Tim Winders:

There are leaders that are out there that all they're about are themselves:

Tim Winders:

their power, their money, whatever.

Tim Winders:

faith driven leader, it's not just about you.

Tim Winders:

 Hello, welcome to this

Tim Winders:

We've got a great topic that we're gonna be covering.

Tim Winders:

It is something that I've been studying for a while, been looking at, and we are

Tim Winders:

calling this the Faith Driven Leader.

Tim Winders:

So I wanna welcome you.

Tim Winders:

Thanks for being here.

Tim Winders:

We've got a lot of things that we want to cover and let me kind of jump

Tim Winders:

right into it because we've got five episodes that we're gonna be doing here.

Tim Winders:

This is episode number one.

Tim Winders:

This is Unleashing the Power of Faith Driven Leadership.

Tim Winders:

Let me go ahead and give you a preview of what we've got coming up because we're

Tim Winders:

gonna be doing a few things with this, and we're gonna be talking about some

Tim Winders:

specific strategies, techniques, and tips.

Tim Winders:

Give some definitions here in this first episode of what exactly we're talking

Tim Winders:

about with faith driven leadership.

Tim Winders:

And then one of the things we're gonna be doing with each episode is we will

Tim Winders:

have a biblical example that we're gonna pull from to emphasize or make

Tim Winders:

sure we're understanding these points.

Tim Winders:

So let me go over the five episodes just so you know what's coming up and

Tim Winders:

give you a preview of things to come.

Tim Winders:

This is episode number one, Unleashing the Power of Faith Driven Leadership,

Tim Winders:

giving some definitions and some foundations for this season's episodes.

Tim Winders:

Then we'll be talking about Beyond Success: Why Faith Driven Leadership

Tim Winders:

Matters why you need to be a faith driven leader and why it's important,

Tim Winders:

not just for you, for the people around you, but for the world.

Tim Winders:

We'll talk about that.

Tim Winders:

And then the next episode, number three, Mastering Faith Driven Leadership:

Tim Winders:

Proven Tips and Strategies, kind of some basics, some foundational things

Tim Winders:

of being a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

And then one of the things we know as leaders, we always

Tim Winders:

face challenges, roadblocks.

Tim Winders:

So in episode four, we're gonna be talking about Overcoming Challenges: The Grit

Tim Winders:

and Grace of Faith Driven Leadership.

Tim Winders:

I love that title.

Tim Winders:

The grit and grace of faith driven leadership.

Tim Winders:

How to overcome challenges.

Tim Winders:

And then finally, our episode five is getting to really what a lot of

Tim Winders:

people think leadership is, and that is Purpose-Driven Leadership: How Faith

Tim Winders:

Can Transform Your Leadership and what it means for leading other people.

Tim Winders:

So let's dive into this first episode and get into some definitions and

Tim Winders:

what it all means and what it means for you as a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

Now, one of the things I mentioned earlier is each episode we're gonna

Tim Winders:

cover topic, a few points in this episode, some definitions and practices,

Tim Winders:

plus gonna give a biblical example.

Tim Winders:

I'll give you a preview of the biblical example I'll get to in just a moment.

Tim Winders:

We're gonna talk about the life of Moses and how he was a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

Now, one of the things I do want to say, if you've been around me

Tim Winders:

long enough, you know that I talk about how life, how things we do,

Tim Winders:

especially leadership, business, all of those things, they are not a

Tim Winders:

destination that we're trying to get to.

Tim Winders:

It's not something that we're trying to move towards.

Tim Winders:

And when we get there, we relax, we are perfected.

Tim Winders:

Everything's great.

Tim Winders:

Life is awesome.

Tim Winders:

No, we are talking about a journey.

Tim Winders:

Not a destination.

Tim Winders:

And so one of the things that I want to emphasize with this is that we're

Tim Winders:

going on a journey together and we wanna provide some resources along the way

Tim Winders:

because one of the things I did is I'm trying to keep these episodes short,

Tim Winders:

compact and to the point and which I know a lot of people will appreciate.

Tim Winders:

But one of the things I also wanna do for someone who feels as if they need some

Tim Winders:

additional information or some additional training or some resources or to work

Tim Winders:

on some things that we might bring up outside of this episode then we wanna

Tim Winders:

provide some things, and I think the first place to start is something that we've

Tim Winders:

created, which we're calling it The Faith Driven Quiz, and I'm really just asking

Tim Winders:

you, encouraging you to take the quiz.

Tim Winders:

We created a short and simple assessment.

Tim Winders:

I love assessments.

Tim Winders:

It gets us thinking and we have to answer questions and think about

Tim Winders:

things, and this is a fairly simple one.

Tim Winders:

It's 20 questions just to get a starting point or a checkpoint along

Tim Winders:

our journey, you could find the quiz at https://timwinders.com/faith-driven-quiz.

Tim Winders:

There'll be links down below here, wherever you're consuming or watching

Tim Winders:

this, and we'll make sure we have that.

Tim Winders:

But go take the quiz and see where you stand.

Tim Winders:

As a faith driven leader, I will tell you this.

Tim Winders:

I would guess you're not perfect.

Tim Winders:

I would hope you're not.

Tim Winders:

If you are, then we need to get you to come teach and share with us, or I

Tim Winders:

need to interview you for the podcast.

Tim Winders:

But but go take the quiz and see where we are.

Tim Winders:

It'll give you a way to think about where you are and possibly be some areas to

Tim Winders:

improve upon or get some coaching or get some help or do some additional training.

Tim Winders:

So it's just 20 questions.

Tim Winders:

They're pretty easy.

Tim Winders:

You'll read and self-assess just where you are, and then that can

Tim Winders:

lead you to identify as areas to work on or improve upon.

Tim Winders:

So make sure you go take the quiz, https://timwinders.com/faith-driven-quiz,

Tim Winders:

so go check that out.

Tim Winders:

All right, let's do this.

Tim Winders:

Let's go into some definitions so that we know what we're talking

Tim Winders:

about as faith driven leaders.

Tim Winders:

A faith driven leader is a person who integrates their religious or

Tim Winders:

spiritual beliefs into their leadership style and decision making process.

Tim Winders:

They prioritize their faith as a guiding force in their personal and

Tim Winders:

professional life and strive to lead with integrity, compassion, and purpose.

Tim Winders:

A faith driven leader also seeks to serve their followers, people that they're

Tim Winders:

responsible for, their stakeholders, and their community by aligning their actions

Tim Winders:

with their beliefs and their values.

Tim Winders:

They understand that their leadership is not just about achieving personal success.

Tim Winders:

It's not just about you.

Tim Winders:

There are leaders that are out there that all they're about are themselves.

Tim Winders:

Their power, their money, whatever.

Tim Winders:

Faith driven leader, it's not just about you you or your success, it's also making

Tim Winders:

a positive impact on the lives of others.

Tim Winders:

Faith driven leaders may come from different religious backgrounds,

Tim Winders:

different beliefs, or if they are followers of Christ, like I am,

Tim Winders:

they may actually be from different denominations or there may be some

Tim Winders:

things that there's some differences.

Tim Winders:

That's fine.

Tim Winders:

I believe they share a common commitment to using their faith as

Tim Winders:

a source of strength and inspiration in their leadership journey.

Tim Winders:

They are driven by a higher purpose and see their leadership as a way to

Tim Winders:

fulfill their spiritual calling while making them meaningful difference in

Tim Winders:

the world . Now that we've got what a faith driven leader is out of the way,

Tim Winders:

let's break each one of those words down.

Tim Winders:

Let's talk about leader.

Tim Winders:

Let's talk about faith.

Tim Winders:

And let's talk about the word driven.

Tim Winders:

A leader is someone who uses their faith as the foundation of their leadership.

Tim Winders:

They are individuals who are called to serve and inspire others through

Tim Winders:

their actions and words, and who are dedicated to living a life that reflects

Tim Winders:

their faith in God, their higher power.

Tim Winders:

Faith driven leaders recognize that their role is not about seeking

Tim Winders:

personal gain or power, but about serving others and fulfilling a greater

Tim Winders:

purpose that is rooted in their faith.

Tim Winders:

It's foundational to them.

Tim Winders:

They're committed to leading by example and to inspiring others to follow their

Tim Winders:

lead and living a life that is centered on faith, integrity, and love for others.

Tim Winders:

Now, one of the things that I've always said is a definition

Tim Winders:

that I've used for leader.

Tim Winders:

A leader is a steward, a caretaker, a trustee over those people, places, and

Tim Winders:

things that God has gifted you with.

Tim Winders:

They're not an owner, they're a steward or a caretaker, and I think that helps

Tim Winders:

me, and it may help you understand how that faith, that leader role, plays

Tim Winders:

with being a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

Now, let's look at the second thing.

Tim Winders:

Let's look at faith.

Tim Winders:

Faith as it relates to the faith driven leader refers to a deep trust

Tim Winders:

and belief in God and his plan for our life and our leadership, and not

Tim Winders:

just our life, but our leadership.

Tim Winders:

Sometimes we try to segment things out.

Tim Winders:

We're talking about bringing everything together here.

Tim Winders:

Our faith brings everything together.

Tim Winders:

It involves a surrendering of control to God and relying on him

Tim Winders:

for guidance, wisdom, and strength in all areas of our leadership journey.

Tim Winders:

Faith driven leaders believe that their purpose and calling comes from God and

Tim Winders:

that he will provide them with everything that we, that they, that a faith driven

Tim Winders:

leader needs to fulfill that purpose.

Tim Winders:

This kind of faith is not just a mental ascent to certain religious

Tim Winders:

doctrines or belief systems, but a genuine, heartfelt trust in God that

Tim Winders:

shapes every decision and action that they, you, we, I take as a leader.

Tim Winders:

And one of the things, this is kinda like my personal, makes it easy for me,

Tim Winders:

keeps me in check definition of faith.

Tim Winders:

It's knowing and understanding that the world does not revolve around me.

Tim Winders:

It's not about self.

Tim Winders:

Or it's not about just me and this is the way I joke about it.

Tim Winders:

It's more about him and less about Tim and I'm pointing up for

Tim Winders:

those that may not see my finger.

Tim Winders:

It's more about him and less about Tim.

Tim Winders:

That is what faith is and that's how I am able to stay checked and grounded.

Tim Winders:

Let's look at the word driven as it applies to faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

The word driven refers to the deep motivation and commitment

Tim Winders:

that they have to integrate their faith into their leadership style

Tim Winders:

and decision making process.

Tim Winders:

It implies that their faith is a powerful force that propels them

Tim Winders:

forward, giving them a sense of purpose and direction in their

Tim Winders:

leadership journey, in your leadership journey, in my leadership journey.

Tim Winders:

It propels us forward.

Tim Winders:

It's something that drives us.

Tim Winders:

It's not passive.

Tim Winders:

It doesn't keep us sitting on the sidelines.

Tim Winders:

It's interesting.

Tim Winders:

I talked to actually a group of Christians about this word driven, and there were

Tim Winders:

people that were uncomfortable with the word driven, but here's what I know.

Tim Winders:

Most people, especially high achievers, people that move into leadership roles,

Tim Winders:

people that are entrepreneurs, business people that even run ministries and other

Tim Winders:

organizations, something drives them.

Tim Winders:

And I think if we were to ignore that, they're driven by something,

Tim Winders:

then I think we're not being faithful to who we are and how we're made up.

Tim Winders:

There are people that are high achievers and they're driven by stuff, and I want

Tim Winders:

us to understand that the word driven is okay, and we're driven by something.

Tim Winders:

We choose to be driven by our faith.

Tim Winders:

We're active, not passive.

Tim Winders:

A few things that a faith driven leader is not.

Tim Winders:

A faith driven leader is not perfect.

Tim Winders:

We all have flaws in shortcomings, some of us more than others, and that's

Tim Winders:

okay, because if anybody states that they're perfect or that they have no

Tim Winders:

flaws, then we probably have some issues with humility or things like that.

Tim Winders:

What sets us apart though, is our willingness to grow

Tim Winders:

and learn from mistakes.

Tim Winders:

There's one entire episode of this season that we're going to

Tim Winders:

be talking about how to deal with mistakes, failures, roadblocks, and

Tim Winders:

things that happen when we mess up.

Tim Winders:

We'll be using as our biblical example, David and his life for that one.

Tim Winders:

Some of you know what we'll be looking at there.

Tim Winders:

Being a faith driven leader is not just a title or role.

Tim Winders:

It's a way of life.

Tim Winders:

It permeates everything we do and everything that we are.

Tim Winders:

It's not just something that we are nine to five or while we're

Tim Winders:

in our work environment or while we're in that leadership role.

Tim Winders:

It permeates everything about who we are.

Tim Winders:

It's about using our God-given talents and abilities to serve others.

Tim Winders:

Make a positive impact on the world.

Tim Winders:

Faith driven leaders are not motivated by money or power.

Tim Winders:

Now, we're not against money.

Tim Winders:

We're not really against even our ego and the things that happen when we

Tim Winders:

step into roles or positions where we have some degree of control or power.

Tim Winders:

But we have to understand that we need to keep that in check

Tim Winders:

and we can't be driven by that.

Tim Winders:

I think most of us have recognized times in our lives where we've had

Tim Winders:

situations where we were driven by money.

Tim Winders:

And usually that doesn't end well, or we were driven by power or our

Tim Winders:

ego or pride or something like that.

Tim Winders:

Faith driven leaders are not driven by those things.

Tim Winders:

They're driven by their faith.

Tim Winders:

They're guided by a sense of purpose and a desire to make a difference

Tim Winders:

in the lives of those around them.

Tim Winders:

Arrogance and cockiness have no place in the life of a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

Humility and a servant's heart are essential to leading

Tim Winders:

with grace and compassion.

Tim Winders:

Being a faith driven leader is not just for pastors or full-time ministers.

Tim Winders:

We need to say that here.

Tim Winders:

Sometimes people think this is the stuff that it's just for the preachers.

Tim Winders:

It's just for those ministers.

Tim Winders:

No, this is for everyone.

Tim Winders:

It is my firm belief that many of us, many of you are called to be out in the

Tim Winders:

marketplace, to be out in the world.

Tim Winders:

All of Jesus disciples did not come from ministry.

Tim Winders:

They were business people and faith driven leaders are to

Tim Winders:

function and operate in that role.

Tim Winders:

It's a calling that can be lived out in any profession or vocation.

Tim Winders:

Finally, a faith driven leader is not a destination, but a journey.

Tim Winders:

Like we said earlier, it's a lifelong pursuit of growing in faith, character,

Tim Winders:

and leadership, and always striving to be the best version of yourself.

Tim Winders:

It's a growth mindset instead of a fixed mindset.

Tim Winders:

And one of the things we mentioned earlier, go ahead and mention again

Tim Winders:

here, is that we've got some tools and resources to help on that journey.

Tim Winders:

So make sure you go take that quiz, that Faith Driven Leader quiz, just to

Tim Winders:

assess yourself and see where you are.

Tim Winders:

There's some links down in the notes for that.

Tim Winders:

Now finally, let's wrap up this episode with an example from the Bible.

Tim Winders:

Let's talk about one of the big time leaders of faith from

Tim Winders:

the Bible, which is Moses.

Tim Winders:

I've just finished reading about Moses for the second time.

Tim Winders:

I did a read through the Bible last year just in where I've read through

Tim Winders:

his life again and what a life he had.

Tim Winders:

What an example of patience I.

Tim Winders:

Taking time.

Tim Winders:

We need to understand time when we're leaders and

Tim Winders:

expectations of perfect results.

Tim Winders:

I saw all of this in Moses' life and I made some notes here.

Tim Winders:

I just read through Moses, a well-known figure in the Bible,

Tim Winders:

who demonstrated faith driven leadership throughout his life.

Tim Winders:

He was chosen by God to lead the Israelites out of slavery and

Tim Winders:

Egypt and into the Promised Land.

Tim Winders:

That's what he was chosen to do.

Tim Winders:

I wanna remind everyone that he was chosen at the age we believe of 80.

Tim Winders:

That was after 40 years that he spent as a prince living

Tim Winders:

probably pretty well in Egypt.

Tim Winders:

And then he made a mistake.

Tim Winders:

He actually killed a man.

Tim Winders:

Someone called him out on it and he fled and went into the desert

Tim Winders:

and spent 40 years in the desert.

Tim Winders:

Let's talk patience.

Tim Winders:

40 years in the desert.

Tim Winders:

And then he was led out of that by God to lead the nation of Israel, God's

Tim Winders:

people into the Promised Land out of slavery in Egypt, into the Promised Land.

Tim Winders:

Despite facing many obstacles and setbacks along the way, Moses remained faithful to

Tim Winders:

God entrusted in his power and guidance.

Tim Winders:

One of the most inspiring aspect of Moses' leadership is his

Tim Winders:

willingness to stand up to authority.

Tim Winders:

When he knew it was not in aligned with God's will, he confronted Pharaoh.

Tim Winders:

You know what?

Tim Winders:

It's not all about just love and compassion.

Tim Winders:

Sometimes we're called to confront people.

Tim Winders:

Moses had to confront people on behalf of the Israelites, and he spoke truth.

Tim Winders:

He spoke what God told him to say, even when it meant risking his own life.

Tim Winders:

Even when he knew that God was hardening Pharaoh's heart, he also

Tim Winders:

interceded on behalf of his people before God and demonstrated great

Tim Winders:

compassion and empathy towards them, and let's just go ahead and say it.

Tim Winders:

Moses had great patience because for a number of the 40 years

Tim Winders:

that they wanted in the desert.

Tim Winders:

I underlined this a number of times when I was reading through this recently.

Tim Winders:

It says that the people complained.

Tim Winders:

The people complained.

Tim Winders:

The people complained.

Tim Winders:

They were not grateful.

Tim Winders:

They were not saying, Moses, thank you.

Tim Winders:

Thank you so much.

Tim Winders:

No, the people complained quite a bit.

Tim Winders:

He was also a man of great faith and prayer.

Tim Winders:

He relied on God's strength and guidance to overcome the many challenges he

Tim Winders:

faced, including lead the Israeli, leading the Israelis through the Red

Tim Winders:

Sea and providing them with food, water, and what they needed in the desert.

Tim Winders:

And again, he had to intercede.

Tim Winders:

He had to be patient.

Tim Winders:

And he demonstrated that patience, humility, and perseverance in his

Tim Winders:

leadership always seeking God's will and trusting in his promises.

Tim Winders:

And it's impressive when you read through all that Moses went through.

Tim Winders:

Moses life is a powerful example for us of what it means to be a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

He had courage in the face of adversity.

Tim Winders:

He had compassion for his people and he had unwavering faith over what I

Tim Winders:

consider to be long periods of time.

Tim Winders:

If I knew that I was going to need to be in a place of patience for 40 years,

Tim Winders:

I am not sure that I could handle that.

Tim Winders:

Many of you are probably the same way, but he trusted in God, and those are qualities

Tim Winders:

that any leader would do well to emulate.

Tim Winders:

We can always look to Moses as an example of what we can all

Tim Winders:

do to be a faith driven leader.

Tim Winders:

This has been awesome.

Tim Winders:

This is called Unleashing the Power of Faith Driven Leadership.

Tim Winders:

In this episode one, I want you to make sure you go take the quiz

Tim Winders:

at timwinders.com/faith-driven-quiz and take those 20 questions

Tim Winders:

and just see where you are.

Tim Winders:

And I think that'll be helpful for you because I know it helped me to go

Tim Winders:

through those questions and I think it's just a good assessment for you.

Tim Winders:

I wanna remind you that we've got episodes coming up that are Beyond Success:

Tim Winders:

Why Faith Driven Leadership Matters.

Tim Winders:

That is episode two, and that is why we need people like you

Tim Winders:

to be faith driven leaders.

Tim Winders:

So make sure you check that out.

Tim Winders:

Until next time, I want everyone to continue being all

Tim Winders:

that you were created to be.

Tim Winders:

And I believe that you were created to be a faith driven leader.
